Playing Texas Hold’em hole cards
The most common mistake of a novice poker player, is playing the wrong hands (too much or too less). Estimating the value of your hand against your opponent (s) is one of the hardest acts you will experience in poker. Finally, you never know what your opponent has. In online poker, you also have the disadvantage that you do not see your opponents, so you cannot pay attention to certain traits like nerves, happy or sad faces. Well you can go bet on some structures (aggressive / tight) of other players. My tip to you is write this down! Many online poker programs have an option here as it is often achieved with 1 or 2 clicks , like, pokerstars and PKR Poker. If you do not know what your opponent hand is, you have to assume something, and this is your hand. Each starting hand has a value, so you will often win with Ace / Ace and almost never with 2 / 3. No doubt that this is news to you. Only if I ask "how big is your chance you win the pot" I think this is a different question. The question "when there are 10 players in the pot, and you have Ace / Ace, what is your chance to win the pot?" I think that most new poker players guess a higher value that it really is. These values are crucial in poker and you are representing an advantage against other poker players who do not know.
How do you get your advantage in this
As you will see soon, I have calculated the percentages of each possible starting hands for Texas Hold `em, with more than 10 million simulations a game, from two to ten players. This will come pretty close to reality. It can therefore be concluded that playing certain hands and at a certain number of opponents, you will lose more than win the pot. This gives you a good reason to turn your hand to fold. It also shows that values are almost equal or slightly higher than the average, these hands are playable if you are in a late position. You will also find values that are well above the average, this gives you another reason to raise it. Regularly you will see some hands in proportionately higher score with less players, you will also see that the opposite will occur. The best rate is of course that you are more likely to win than all the players together (+51%). Therefore it is important to bet a good hand so you will force players to fold and so you get higher rates to win. If you will not bet, you change to win the pot only get smaller. And maybe eventually you will lose the pot with a monster hand like Ace / Ace. Then you should better bet and have the change to collect the blinds than lose the pot.
